Some of My Favorite Writers ...and links
to other sites dedicated to them.... |

Some
of the links are that old! |

- Jorge Luis Borges. Argentine writer. (b. Aug. 24, 1899, d. June 14, 1986) One of my favorite short story writers. Author of "The Library of Babel."
- Paul Bowles. American writer (b. New York City, Dec. 30, 1910). Author of one of my favorite novels, The Sheltering Sky.
- William S. Burroughs. American writer. (b. St. Louis, Mo., Feb. 5, 1914). Legendary writer whose Naked Lunch is the dark and darkly funny tonic of the Beat Movement. A prized possession in my collection of books: a signed copy of Naked Lunch.
- Julio Cortazar. Argentine writer. (b. Aug. 26, 1914, d. Feb. 12, 1984). Another master of the short story, his "Blow Up" provided the inspiration for Michaelangelo Antonioni's film of the same name. His Hopscotch is one of my favorite novels. He's not as well-known as the other three above, but he is one of the best novellists of the 20th century.
